Due to limited parking on campus Residential Students qualify for the following parking permits based upon their housing contracts:
Grant Towers, Patterson Complex and Stevenson Towers: Students qualify for an orange permit.
Neptune Hall: Students qualify for a purple permit.
Gilbert Hall: Students qualify for a brown permit.
Please be sure to select the correct permit that you qualify for based upon your housing contract to avoid any parking tickets.
Additional options for parking on campus:
Use AIMS Mobile Pay to find timed parking in designated areas and pay from your mobile device.
Use a pay station to pay with cash or credit card for timed parking in a designated area.
Allow sufficient time to walk to your destination. See the Walking Guide for more information.
There are bike racks available throughout campus.
Read posted signs at all parking lots.
Do not park in reserved spaces. You risk receiving a $100 fine and having your vehicle towed at your expense. If you park in a parking space that has a yellow or white reserved space sign in front of it, leave and find another parking space. There is a "Tow Risk" warning printed on the sign.
Parking permits are needed even when school is not in session. The only time a parking permit is not needed is when the university is closed. However, permits required at all time lots, reserved spaces, persons with disability spaces, no parking zones and 15-minute spaces may still be monitored by NIU Public Safety.
Review the parking map to see where your permit allows you to park.
Student Fees cover the Huskie Line for NIU Students. You must show your OneCard to ride.
