Department of Police and Public Safety

The Northern Illinois University Department of Police and Public Safety has two locations. The administrative offices, including records, are located at 395 Wirtz Drive. Arrestees are released in the exterior lobby of this building. This office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., except on university holidays.

The second building is located at 375 Wirtz Drive and houses both the Dispatch Center and the weapons storage. They are both available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Dispatch Center is where all of the calls for service are answered and the lost and found is maintained.

There are also numerous Community Safety Centers located in residence halls throughout campus. These CSCs serve as office space where the officers can meet with students to address concerns in private and are staffed on an as-needed basis.
