Get Involved

Are you looking for a way to increase your leadership and conflict resolution abilities? Volunteering with Student Conduct can help you gain important skills and make a difference on campus. We invite NIU students, faculty and staff members to serve as student conduct board members and system advisors.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 815-753-1571 or conduct@niu.edu

Conduct Board Member

Conduct board members hear alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct. They determine if a violation occurred and impose sanctions as appropriate. Serving as a board member is a great way to develop your leadership, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Training is provided on Blackboard.

If you're a student, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Have at least a 2.00 GPA.
  • Be in good academic and student conduct standing.

Conduct System Advisor

Conduct system advisors guide students through the conduct process. They provide students with information and advise them on their options. Advisors may not speak on behalf of their advisees. Training is provided.

How to Apply

We accept applications on a rolling basis. If you're a student, you can apply online:

If you're a faculty or staff member, please start by contacting your faculty representative or supervisor.
